The Treatment Process

Every Invisalign® treatment at The Holland Park Dentist is completely bespoke. Here is what you can expect at each stage:

Step 1: Complimentary Consultation

Your journey begins with a no-obligation consultation with one of our dentists. We will discuss your concerns, examine your teeth and bite, and determine whether Invisalign® is clinically appropriate for you. This is also a great opportunity to ask any questions and to understand the full scope of the proposed treatment.

Step 2: Digital Scanning and 3D Treatment Planning

If you proceed with treatment, we will take detailed digital impressions (scans) of your teeth using our intraoral scanner – no messy dental putty. These scans are used to create your personalised ClinCheck® 3D treatment plan, which maps the precise, incremental movements of your teeth throughout your treatment.

You will be able to view a simulation of your anticipated results before committing to treatment.

Step 3: Your Aligners Are Made

Your treatment plan is sent to the Invisalign® laboratory, where your custom aligners are precision-manufactured by expert technicians using SmartTrack® material. Each aligner in the series is slightly different, progressively moving your teeth towards their final position.

Step 4: Fitting Your Aligners

Once your aligners are ready, you will return to the practice for your fitting appointment. We will ensure your aligners fit correctly and comfortably, and provide you with full instructions on how to wear and care for them.

Step 5: Wearing Your Aligners

For the best results, your aligners should be worn for 20 to 22 hours per day – day and night. You will remove them only for eating, drinking anything other than water, and for your oral hygiene routine (brushing and flossing). You will typically progress to a new set of aligners approximately every one to two weeks, as directed by your dentist.

Step 6: Progress Reviews

You will attend regular check-up appointments throughout your treatment so that your dentist can monitor your progress, make any necessary adjustments, and ensure your treatment is on track.

Step 7: Retention

Once your active aligner treatment is complete, it is important to wear a retainer to maintain your results. Your dentist will discuss the most appropriate retention option for you, which may include removable or fixed retainers.
