Root Canal Treatment in Holland Park

At The Holland Park Dentist, we provide root canal treatment as part of our range of endodontic treatments.

Root canal treatments are one of the most commonly performed endodontic treatments and, although they can cause a sense of worry and anxiety in patients, they are in fact relatively simple.

We’ll perform a root canal treatment if we find infected dental pulp in the centre – or root – of your tooth. You might experience some symptoms of this infection such as a loose tooth, or pain when biting down or chewing. Hopefully, if you’re visiting us regularly at the practice, then one of our experienced dentists will notice the signs before you experience any of these symptoms.

To be certain that a root canal is needed, we’ll perform an X-ray to determine whether or not an infection is present. Once this has been determined, you’ll come back to the practice for the treatment, for which we’ll administer a local anaesthetic. We also offer sedation for any of our patients who are feeling particularly nervous.

Once the infected dental pulp has been removed, we’ll place a temporary filling in your tooth. This is so that when you come back for a check-up, we can be sure all the infection has been eliminated. If this is the case, we’ll then place your permanent filling.
