Unfortunately, however, there are times when a tooth extraction is deemed necessary.
This could be because the tooth has been damaged or decayed beyond repair, or because a wisdom tooth – or teeth – has become impacted. Other causes include overcrowding in the mouth or, in some cases, because milk teeth haven’t fallen out before the adult teeth come in.
When having a tooth extracted, you’ll be placed under local anaesthetic so there won’t be any pain or discomfort. For our more nervous patients, we can also offer IV sedation. After the extraction, we might have to perform stitches to help the area heal.
